The raw Polygraph log files are also available for the participants that disclosed their results. You may download them here. Please realize that these are very, very large files. We ask that you take them only if you really intend to analyze them.
We have some pictures from the cache-off:
This Cache-off would have never happened without the help of many organizations and people.
First, to Paul Vixie, Ann Soucy, Rory Doolin and everyone else at Vixie Enterprises for hosting the event in their warehouse. Ann was especially kind to deal with site visits prior to the cache-off, and watching over equipment as it arrived and departed via various shipping companies. Rory and Ann also arranged for our wonderful catering and countless other details. And of course, we'll never forget the radio-control race cars.
My Way-Cool brother-in-law John O'Shaughnessy saved our butts by making sure we didn't blow any fuses in Vixie's building.
Alteon Networks graciously loaned us five of their latest Ace Director 2 switches for use during the cache-off, as well as making support engineers available to handle emergencies (of which there were none) during all three days.
Cisco loaned us a 7200 router and a 2900 switch for use during the cache-off.
We use FreeBSD on all of our Polygraph client and server machines. We very much appreciate the stability and tuneability of the FreeBSD Unix kernel!
If you ever need to rent a large quantity of PC's, we highly recommend Bit-by-Bit Computer Rentals. They were absolutely wonderful to work with.
Finally, we would have no reason to cache-off at all without the support and participation of the vendors who stuck with us through our first benchmarking attempt. So, thank you to IBM, InfoLibria, Network Appliance, and Novell!
